Maple Apple Crisp

Apple crisp is one of the easiest and most delicious dessert for fall.  What I love about apple crisp is that you don't need many ingredients to make it delicious.  This is wonderful served with vanilla bean ice cream!  When Nick and I ate this, we forgot the ice cream and remembered about an hour later... so, of course, we needed to have another serving. :) Enjoy!

Maple Apple Crisp
Makes: 4 tarts

Ingredients:
5 apples - Sliced thin, seeds removed (I don't peel cause I love the peeling, but you can)
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 cup all-purpose organic flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 pinch sea salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup toasted and chopped pecans

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
Place apples in an 8x8 inch baking dish or 8 individual tart dishes. Toss apples with syrup and sprinkle with cinnamon. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle mixture evenly over apples. Top with toasted pecans and a drizzle of syrup.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-35 minutes, until topping is golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
